Day 319

"Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you..." Isaiah 30:18a

Text: Exodus 33 : 9-11

A WONDERFUL ILLUSTRATION

Did the people wonder about what Moses did when he went up Mount Sinai? God wanted Israel to know that Moses did not spend his time in vain when he went up to the mountain! He stood in the presence of God to receive instruction!

“And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle,
that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door
of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.
All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle
door, and all the people rose and worshipped, each man in
his tent door.”
EXODUS 33:9-10

1. “The pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle”

The children of Israel saw for themselves that God truly favored Moses! His presence at the tabernacle of meeting was unmistakable!

2. “The LORD talked with Moses”

To the uninitiated, a great sense of mystery will surround the tabernacle of meeting! To the wise, God descending on the tabernacle of meeting to meet with Moses was an awesome sight to behold!

3. Outside the camp

If only Israel had not been stiff-necked! If Aaron had not complied with the demands of the rebels! The construction of the Tabernacle of Meeting would have gone ahead with the Lord’s blessings, if Israel had not sinned by making a golden calf for worship!

FACE TO FACE

What a privileged servant of God Moses was! The following text highlights just how blessed he was in life and ministry!

“So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face,
as a man speaks to his friend.
And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua
the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.”
EXODUS 33:11

1. “Face to face, as a man speaks to his friend”

What a glorious description of the relationship Moses enjoyed with the Lord!

2. “But his servant Joshua, the son of Nun… did not depart from the tabernacle”

His presence at the tabernacle of meeting would prevent people itching with curiosity from venturing there. Joshua once again proved himself as a person of great faithfulness
