Exodus
Day
Day 222

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" Psalm 133:1

Text: Exodus 24 : 11

OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH GOD

What an opportunity God gave to Aaron and his sons to experience and know God at a deeper level. That same opportunity was given to the seventy elders of Israel! How did they benefit from this opportunity?

OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE GREAT FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship has at least two major elements. On the one hand there is fellowship between fellow-believers. On the other hand there is a special kind of fellowship between God and men!

“So they saw God, and they ate and drank.”
EXODUS 24:11B

What an experience that must have been! To be singled out for honour to “see” and experience God in a very rare manner! Few have had had such opportunities!

AN ASTUTE OBSERVATION

Moses, ever the keen observer of spiritual things, made an astute observation.

“But on the nobles of the children of Israel
He did not lay His hand.”
EXODUS 24:11A

1. The significance of God laying His hands on someone

The practice of the laying on of hands has a very long history! What are some important features of this practice? Three things may be highlighted.

a) Special recognition of the individual.
b) Special blessing of the individual.
c) Special empowering for future ministry

2. “But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand”

This was a sad observation indeed, but it was a true statement that needed to be noted:-

a) “Nobles”- in the sight of men.
b) God looks at men from a different perspective.
In the following text, we learn about how God sees things.

“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature…
For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks
at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 SAMUEL 16:7
