Exodus

Exodus
Day
Day 114

"The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies." Isaiah 42:13

Text: Exodus 15 : 8-12

VAIN THOUGHTS OF THE WICKED

What was in Pharaoh’s mind as he planned the campaign against the children of Israel? Moses well captured his vain thoughts!

“The enemy said, ‘I will pursue,

I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil;
My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword,
My hand shall destroy them.'”
EXODUS 15:9

Against any other foe, Pharaoh might well have gotten his way! But he was dealing not only with the children of Israel, but with their God! He was doomed to fail!

AN EFFORTLESS VICTORY

How hard did God have to work to gain victory over Egypt? From Moses’ description, he did not have to work very hard at all.

“And with the blast of Your nostrils
The waters were gathered together;
The floods stood upright like a heap;
The depths congealed in the heart of the sea.

You blew with Your wind,
The sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.”
EXODUS 15:8, 10

God sent a powerful wind once, and the seas parted. And the children of Israel crossed over the Red Sea as on dry ground. He sent the wind again, and the Egyptian army was demolished! An effortless victory!

IN AWE AND ADORATION

Adoration of a great God never ceases. Every time His deeds are re-visited, a new surge of joy floods the soul!

“Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
You stretched out Your right hand;
The earth swallowed them.”
EXODUS 15:11-12

Who indeed is like the Lord God of Israel? How wonderful He is in His holiness, performing all His wonders! The many gods of Egypt with their resplendent temples had nothing to offer in comparison to the God of Israel!
