Day 361

"But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychichus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you."

Text: Ephesians 6:21

NATURAL TO BE CONCERNED

It is natural to be concerned about the well-being of people we love. We have many examples of such beautiful and natural concern.

1. Nehemiah and his concern for the state of his brethren in Jerusalem

Nehemiah lived in comfort, if not in great luxury, for he was after all, the king’s cupbearer. Nevertheless, he showed great concern for the welfare of his brethren seeking to eke out a living when they returned home to Israel, after a long exile.

I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped,
who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem..
And they said to me, ‘…The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down
and its gates are burned with fire…’
So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept,
and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before
the God of heaven.’
NEHEMIAH 1:2-4

2. Epaphroditus’ concern for the Philippians

Epaphroditus was a good servant of God. The Philippian Church, out of love for Paul, had sent him to look after the aged apostle. While ministering to Paul, Epaphroditus fell seriously ill. However, his distress came about not because he was ill, but that his heart was concerned about the Philippians. He did not want them to worry about him.

He was longing for you all, and was distressed
because you had heard that he was sick. For indeed
he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him,
and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have
sorrow upon sorrow.
PHILIPPIANS 2:26-27

KEEPING IN CLOSE TOUCH

One of the most important things to do, in life and ministry, is to keep in close touch with each other. Let us consider the following reasons why keeping in good touch would prove to be such a blessing to all concerned.

1. Fresh News keep worries at bay.

2. Updated news enable us to pray more meaningfully for each other.

3. Keeping in close touch lifts up the heart with joy.

4. Keeping in close touch enable people to learn deep lessons about the Lord’s hand in our life and ministry.
