Day 256

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet- smelling aroma."

Text: Ephesians 5:2

THE CHRISTIAN WALK

The lifestyle of the child of God, may indeed be called “the Christian walk”. How may we understand and appreciate the Christian way of life? Let us consider the following thoughts:-

1. A distinctive lifestyle

a) It differs from the world completely.
b) It is distinct from the old lifestyle that was filled with sin.

2. A fruitful lifestyle

a) The believer is a blessing to people in the world.
b) He is of particular blessing to the Church, the body of Christ.

The Christian walk is one that will become even more significant as the believer matures in his faith. He draws much strength from abiding in Christ.

THE EXAMPLE OF CHRIST

The child of God was not meant to just believe in the Lord Jesus as Saviour. He was meant to have Christ as his supreme example. There is no greater role model than the Lord Jesus Himself for the child of God.

APPLICATIONS

The believer must also learn how to apply his faith in Christ into real-life situations. Let us consider at least three applications:-

a) Drawing inspiration from the example of Christ’s love

No greater example of love may be found! The love of Christ is supreme! Much inspiration may be drawn from abiding in the love of Christ.

b) Drawing courage from the example of Christ’s sacrifice

How the heart must be deeply moved by the tremendous price Christ was willing to pay, to redeem man from sin. If only we could be prepared to make similar sacrifices for the cause of the Gospel of Christ.

c) Drawing strength from the example of Christ’s commitment to do His Father’s will

Sometimes, we feel that living out our faith is a very hard thing to do. We tend to falter and feel weak along the way. We may draw much strength from dwelling on the way Christ was deeply committed to obeying His Father.
