Ephesians
Day
Day 81

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Text: Ephesians 2:10

EXULTING IN SALVATION

We have every reason to rejoice in the salvation God has given to us in Christ Jesus. We fully understand just why Paul exulted in his faith even after many years of serving the Lord. For him, there was always a fresh reason to rejoice in his faith.

THE WORKMANSHIP OF GOD

We have another fresh perspective to ponder over. How wonderful it is to think about this great truth in connection with our salvation.

“We are His workmanship”

The word “workmanship” (“poema”) is where we derive the word “poem”. God did not just dole out salvation. He has a deep personal interest in all His children. He sees the development of His children as “His workmanship”. Let us consider some of the things He has done already.

1. Planning

God’s plans were already determined “before the foundation of the world” (Cf. Ephesians 1:4)

2. Provision

God’s provision is absolutely breathtaking:-

a) In its foresight
b) In its depth
c) In its scope
d) Nothing is left to chance

3. Power

God’s inestimable power is brought to bear in every way in the life of every believer. He spares no effort to ensure that His workmanship would turn out just right.

HOW DO WE UNDERSTAND THE ENIGMA OF “THE LAPSED CHRISTIAN”?

Many reasons may be suggested as to the problem of “the lapsed Christian.”

1. Was there genuine salvation in the first place?

2. Was there an unresolved sin problem?

3. Was there a yielding to the deceitful temptations of the devil?

The problem does not lie with God. If one truly understands God’s glorious plan of salvation, including the fact that we are His workmanship, would not that be sufficient motivation to live for Him?
