Day 35

"He has made everything beautiful in its time"

Text: Ecclesiastes 3:11

GOD’S WORKS

The works of God are truly wonderful and profound. Solomon was able to use the word “beautiful” meaningfully as he observed what man does, and what God does!

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.
Also He has put eternity in their hearts,
except that no one can find out
the work that God does from beginning to end.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11

1. “He has made everything beautiful in its time”

a) The word “beautiful” is not just a word that describes “aesthetics”.
b) The focus is on the works of God.
i) There is an initial work. This may not appear to be “beautiful” at this stage.
ii) Give the work some time to grow and develop.
iii) When the work is complete, the beauty would then be seen.

2. “Also He has put eternity in their hearts”

a) God’s works are done with “eternity” in view.
b) But “eternity” cannot be fully fathomed by finite creatures.
c) This would include all human beings.
d) Man cannot fully understand all of God’s works.

3. “Except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end”

a) The human mind can understand many deep things in different fields:
i) Science
ii) Medicine
iii) Mathematics
iv) Technology
b) But no one can find out what God is doing from beginning to end.
i) God’s work may span generations.
ii) Man’s life is too short to fathom everything in one short life span.
c) But we may trust that what God does, when it is finally completed:
i) It will be beautiful.
ii) It will reflect His profound wisdom.
iii) Nothing would be outside His will and wisdom.
