"He shows everyone that he is a fool"

Text: Ecclesiastes 10:3

THE WORD “FOOL”

The word “fool” in the Scriptures does not describe a person who has less mental capacity. It is used to describe a person who has chosen the wrong path for his life.

“Even when a fool walks along the way,
He lacks wisdom,
And he shows everyone that he is a fool.”
Ecclesiastes 10:3

1. “Even when a fool walks along the way, he lacks wisdom”

a) “Walks along the way”

i) This is the path of life chosen.

ii) The foolish person knows that there is a path of wisdom that he has been
encouraged to walk in.

iii) But he chooses otherwise.

b) The fool lacks wisdom.

i) He lacks wisdom because he rejects it.

ii) He lacks wisdom because he is too lazy to search for it.

iii) He lacks wisdom because he has been influenced wrongly.

2. “And he shows everyone that he is a fool”

a) Who is “everyone?”

i) This would include his parents.

ii) His family members.

iii) They would have advised him to walk in wisdom but the fool has
chosen to reject good advice.

b) The community he lives in:

i) His neighbours

ii) His friends

Before too long, the fool would show that his choices in life were lacking in wisdom.
