Day 76

"Teaching and admonishing one another..."

Text: Colossians 3:16

MIGHTY OUTWORKING

The apostle Paul certainly saw the mighty outworking of the word of Christ in his live and ministry. What he wrote in this text was drawn from his own personal life experience.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Colossians 3:16

1. “In all wisdom”

a) The word of God is truly able to help the conscientious reader gain wisdom.
b) Classic OT texts on the subject of gaining wisdom:
i) Psalm 119

ii) The Book of Proverbs
iii) Ecclesiastes
c) The contribution of the NT Literature.
i) The Gospels
ii) The Epistles
All will contribute to much-needed wisdom!

2. “Teaching and admonishing one another”

a) We will be able to teach others great words of wisdom.
b) We will be able to admonish one another with the Word of the Lord.

3. Other expressions of encouragement to one another

a) Psalms
b) Hymns
c) Spiritual songs
The above suggest that the music ministry is a valid one, even in the first century.

4. “Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord”

a) Grace will be experienced as we let the Word of Christ dwell in our hearts richly.
b) God will give us a song in the night.
c) We will be able to sing significantly because of our experience with the Word of God.
d) The Church would truly be a powerful and spiritual entity.
