"With His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place..."

Text: Hebrews 9:12

PREPARATION FOR THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

The 40 Days and 40 Nights Jesus spent in the wilderness were important ones. There He was tested and tried by Satan. He defeated the Devil in every temptation. What was foremost in His mind? The following text helps us realise just how well Jesus understood His ministry.

“But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come,
with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands,
that is, not of this creation.
Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood
He entered the Most Holy Place once for all,
having obtained eternal redemption.”
Hebrews 9:11-12

TREMENDOUS DEPTH OF COMPREHENSION

Jesus must have had a tremendous sense of comprehension of the task that God had given to Him. In the light of this comprehension, the temptations of Satan would appear almost frivolous. The glory of all the kingdoms of the world cannot be compared to fulfilling this great task of obtaining eternal salvation for mankind.
