"Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession..."

Text: Hebrews 3:1

JESUS AS OUR GREAT EXAMPLE

The Lord Jesus was ever meant to be our greatest example, among all the other things He sought to fulfill in His life.

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,
who was faithful to Him who appointed Him,
as Moses also was faithful in all His house.”
Hebrews 3:1-2

1. “As Moses also was faithful in all His house”

a) Moses was certainly faithful in his serving of the LORD God.

b) His example of faithfulness is an inspiration to the heart.

2. “Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him”

a) Jesus is hailed as “the Christ”.

b) He was totally faithful to the LORD God who appointed Him.

c) The example of the Lord Jesus is even more outstanding than that of Moses.

3. “Consider”

a) This word suggests a number of things:-

i) To take note of

ii) To observe carefully

iii) To be aware of

b) The Appointments of the Lord Jesus

i) As the Sent One… here translated as “The Apostle”.

ii) As the High Priest of our confession.

iii) Jesus was absolutely faithful to the LORD God in fulfilling His calling.

c) “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling”

i) Let us take note that we are partakers of a great heavenly calling too.

ii) Let us, as holy brethren, seek to emulate the example of the Lord Jesus Christ.

iii) Let us seek to be faithful to the Lord!

iv) Let us seek inspiration from the example of the Lord Jesus Christ.

v) Let us seek to fulfil our heavenly calling with great faithfulness!
