"But the Lord is faithful..."

Text: 2 Thessalonians 3:3

CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD

It is so good and important to have great confidence in the Lord. And this confidence is based on our knowledge that we have a faithful God!

“But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you
and guard you from the evil one.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3

1. “But the Lord is faithful”

a) This is derived from the Scriptures (Jeremiah 3:23).
b) His faithfulness is tied to His mercy and compassion (Jeremiah 3:22).
c) This faithfulness is proven again and again.
i) In God’s dealings with ancient Israel.
ii) In the experience of all in the New Testament period.
iii) In our own personal experience in life.

2. What God will do for His people who trust in Him

a) He will establish.
i) He has begun a good work (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14).
ii) He will also establish (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
iii) He will always complete what He has started to do (Philippians 1:6).
b) He will guard from the evil one.
i) Thank God for this promise.
ii) We are wonderfully protected.
iii) He will guard our souls.
iv) He has power to defeat the evil one.
v) The evil one cannot harm us when we walk with the Lord.

WONDERFUL WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Let us take time to ponder this precious promise. How uplifting is this knowledge that though the world may be under the sway of the evil one, we are gloriously protected!

“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin;
but he who has been born of God keeps himself,
and the wicked one does not touch him.
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies
under the sway of the wicked one.”
