FORMS OF BLESSINGS

What would be a very special blessing from the Lord? Blessings may take many forms.

1. They may be physical or material blessings.

2. They may also be invisible but still very precious spiritual blessings.

A SPECIAL BLESSING

The apostle Paul highlights a special blessing and explains this in the following text.

“That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you,
and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Thessalonians 1:12

1. “That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you”

a) The name of the Lord Jesus is indeed full of glory.
i) Power

ii) Majesty

iii) Greatness

b) Glorified in believers.
i) These experience the reality of Christ’s power.
ii) These evidence the glory of the power of the Lord in their lives and ministry.
iii) The Lord’s name is glorified in and through the ministry of His servants.

2. “And you in Him”

a) This is most gracious of the Lord to describe us in this manner.
b) Our glory is well received by the Lord.
c) He accepts what little glory we achieve as worthy.

3. “According to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ”

a) Whatever we can achieve in life and ministry is to be traced to grace.
b) The source of this grace is to be found in:-
i) God the Father
ii) The Lord Jesus Christ
c) Through grace we can accomplish much for the glory of the Lord our God.
d) Our challenge is to find that grace to be counted worthy of attempting and accomplishing much for the good and glorious name of the Lord.
