"God is able to make all grace abound toward you..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 9:8

GIVING IN FAITH

Giving involves our faith in God! The giver must exercise his faith even as he prepares his offerings!

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you,
that you, always having all sufficiency in all things,
may have an abundance for every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8

1. “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you”

a) “All grace”
i) We are saved by grace.
ii) All blessings come out of God’s grace.
iii) We are able to cope with all difficulties because of “all grace”.
iv) Giving is out of grace too! Grace-giving is well taught by Paul (2 Corinthians 8:1-7)
b) “Abound toward you”
i) God is able to make His grace abound toward us.
ii) We will be able to experience grace upon grace.
iii) The word “abound” actually expresses the idea of “overflowing”.

2. “That you, always having all sufficiency in all things”

a) “That you”
i) Immediate context- The Corinthians.
ii) In application- To all believers across all time eras.
b) “Always having all sufficiency in all things”

Take note of the emphasis that Paul made!

i) Always
ii) All sufficiency
iii) In all things
iv) This is a special way to describe the fact that God is able to help us to be able to give without fearing that we would become impoverished when we give our offerings.
v) Faith is certainly needed- to believe that God would keep His promise of blessing us with all sufficiency.

3. “May have an abundance for every good work”

a) “Abundance”
This word is tied in with the word “abound”.
b) Every good work would be blessed with grace by the Lord abundantly. The believer must exercise his faith in God even as he plans his giving!
