"Therefore we make it our aim..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:9

A GREAT ASPIRATION

It is wonderful to have aspirations in life. Paul’s aspiration was clearly declared.

“Therefore we make it our aim, whether present
or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:9

1. “Therefore”

a) This is an inferential particle.
b) Paul’s inference as to why he has this noble aspiration.
i) Because of his knowledge of God.
ii) Because of his faith in God.
iii) Because of the courageous confidence he had developed.

2. “We make it our aim”

a) An aspiration
b) An ambition
c) A goal to strive for and reach

3. “Whether”

a) Present
That is, alive on earth.
b) Absent
That is, dead.

4. “To be well pleasing to Him”

What is God well pleased with?

a) When we know Him.
b) When we love Him.
c) When we seek to live by faith in the Word of God.
d) When we seek to serve Him.
e) When we exhibit confident courage.
f) When we are obedient to Him.
g) When we are steadfast and rooted.
h) When we bear good fruits.
i) When we remain faithful to the end of our life

These were the things that Paul sought to achieve in his life! He succeeded well!
