"As the truth of Christ is in me..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 11:10

LIVING OUT THE TRUTH

Truth was not just something Paul proclaimed. It resided in Paul’s heart. He sought to live out the truth of the gospel in his life.

“As the truth of Christ is in me, no one shall stop
me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
Why? Because I do not love you? God knows!”
2 Corinthians 11:10-11

1. “As the truth of Christ is in me”

a) A bold declaration of having the truth of Christ in his life.
b) What he had written to the Corinthians was entirely true.

2. “No one shall stop me from boasting in the regions of Achaia”

a) What is this reference to “boasting?”
b) What Paul had written earlier about his apostolic ministry.
i) His authority, ministry and accomplishments. 2 Corinthians 10:14-16
ii) His glorying in the knowledge of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:17
iii) He accomplished much without aid from Corinth. 2 Corinthians 11:7-9

3. Understanding the idea of “regions”

The word “region” was a geographical word to describe a country. Paul ministered in many regions (countries).

a) Syria – Antioch, Syria was where Paul commenced in ministry, invited by Barnabas (Acts 11).
b) Cyprus, Pamphylia, Pisidia, Lyconia (1st Missionary Journey) {Acts 13-14}
c) Macedonia (Major shift in the 2nd Missionary Journey)
i) At Troas, Mysia Paul had a vision to minister in Macedonia.
But he did not minister in Mysia itself.
ii) Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea were cities where churches were developed (Acts 16-17).
d) Achaia – Athens and Corinth were cities in Achaia (Acts 17).
e) Lydia – Ephesus was in this region (Acts 19).

4. “Why? Because I do not love you? God knows!”

a) Paul’s love for the Corinthians was doubted too.
b) But Paul’s conscience before God was clear! His love for the brethren was unquestionable!
