"The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 10:4


It is important that we do not employ carnal weapons. We need to learn how to use the weapons of God effectively.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
2 Corinthians 10:4

1. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal”

a) What are these carnal weapons?
b) These were used against Paul and his fellow-workers:
i) Personal attacks
ii) False allegations
iii) Hurling of insults
iv) Twisting of facts
v) Resorting to lies
vi) Creating division
vii) Using harsh and cruel language intending to cause hurt
c) In our spiritual battles we are not to return evil for evil.

2. “But mighty in God”

a) Strength from God.
b) Power from the Lord.
c) We continue to serve faithfully.
d) We trust God to deal with the enemy.

3. “For pulling down strongholds”

a) Strongholds
i) A reference to fortresses of powerful enemies.
ii) A reference to the way they wage battles.
b) They will be pulled down.
i) God will destroy these fortresses.
ii) He will preserve His faithful servants.
iii) He will guard His church.
iv) The enemy will be defeated for victory belongs to the Lord!
