"God resists the proud"
Text: 1 Peter 5:5
THE PRACTICE OF SUBMISSION
The Apostle Peter taught “submission” earlier in 1 Peter. In quick review:
1. Submission to authorities 1 Peter 2:13-14
2. Submission to masters (to those who are slaves) 1 Peter 2:18
3. Submission in a marriage relationship 1 Peter 3:1
EXTENSION OF THE PRINCIPLE OF SUBMISSION
Peter went further to extend the practice of submission in Church relationships.
“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another,
and be clothed with humility, for
‘God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.'”
