"We are God's fellow workers..."

Text: 1 Corinthians 3:9

A FIRM REMINDER

How did Paul and Apollos see themselves? How should the Corinthians see themselves? A firm reminder was given.

“For we are God’s fellow workers;
you are God’s field, you are God’s building.”
1 Corinthians 3:9

1. “For we are God’s fellow workers”

2. “You are God’s field”

a) The mission field was Corinth (in this instance).
b) Paul, Apollos and God Himself worked in this field.
i) The ground had to be ploughed and tilled.
ii) The seeds had to be sown faithfully (Paul’s ministry).
iii) The land needs to be watered (Apollos’ ministry).
iv) But God was the One who gave the increase.
c) All should rejoice together when there was success.
i) Paul and Apollos
ii) The Corinthians

3. “You are God’s building”

a) There was a change of imagery here.
b) The analogy here is that of a building.
c) The Corinthian Church may indeed be likened to a building.
d) This was an apt illustration to describe the work done in Corinth.
