"Revealed them to us through His Spirit."

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:10

THE VITAL MINISTRY OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD

The wisdom of God stands in significant contrast to the wisdom of the world. The latter may be obtained through studying or experience. But the former is given through the Spirit of God.

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
For what man knows the things of a man
except the spirit of the man which is in him?
Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:10-11

1. The make-up of man

a) He is essentially made of two parts.
i) The physical (the flesh)
ii) The spiritual (the spirit)
b) “The spirit of the man”
i) This is the hidden part of man.
ii) This cannot be known unless it is revealed by the individual.

2. “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit”

a) The wisdom of God is unfathomable by man.
b) The only way to know the deep wisdom of God is when He reveals things to us.
c) He reveals through the Holy Spirit.
i) Without the ministry of the Holy Spirit there is no way we can fathom things of God.
ii) This revelation must be sought in humble prayer (Ephesians 1:17).
iii) The Spirit of wisdom and revelation must open our eyes of understanding and give us enlightenment (Ephesians 1:18).

3. “The Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God”

a) What does it mean “to search”?
i) First, there is the word of God given. No word is to be taken lightly but it must be carefully searched out and understood.
ii) This word must then be as carefully applied to life’s circumstances.
b) “No one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God”
i) These “things” could be in the form of prophecies or wisdom.
ii) These must be thoroughly examined and understood through the help of the Spirit of God.
