Solemn Words of Warning

Text: Deuteronomy 28:25-29

SOLEMN WORDS OF WARNING

1. Enemies

a) They will defeat Israel
b) Israel will flee from enemies

2. Israel

a) Will become troublesome to all kingdoms
b) They will be enslaved   (Deuteronomy 28:25)

3. Carcasses

a) These would be food for scavengers
b) Birds and animals would feed on the corpses

4. Diseases

a) Boils of Egypt
b) Tumours
c) Scabs
d) Itch that cannot be healed
e) Madness
f) Blindness
g) Confusion of heart

5. Results

a) Grope at noonday as a blind man
b) No prosperity
c) Oppression
d) Plundered continually
e) No salvation/ deliverance   (Deuteronomy 28:28-29)

SIGNIFICANCE

1. Blessings are not to be taken for granted

2. The commandments of God are to be heeded

3. There must be obedience

4. The Book of Judges bears testimony of what could happen when people forsake God
