ISRAEL’S RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

1. A holy people to the LORD your God   (Deuteronomy 7:6a)

2. Chosen to be a people for Himself   (Deuteronomy 7:6b)

3. A special treasure above all peoples on earth   (Deuteronomy 7:6c)

REASONS

1. God’s love   (Deuteronomy 7:8)

2. Explanation of this love

a) Not because Israel was a large nation

b) Because God would keep His oath
Which He swore to the patriarchs   (Deuteronomy 7:7-8)

EXPRESSIONS OF GOD’S LOVE

1. The LORD brought you out with a mighty hand

2. Redeemed you from the house of bondage

3. From the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt   (Deuteronomy 7:8)

WHAT GOD IS LIKE

1. Therefore know

2. The LORD your God

a) The faithful God
b) Who keeps covenant
c) And mercy for a thousand generations   (Deuteronomy 7:9)
i) With those who love Him
ii) And keep His commandments
d) He repays those
i) Who hate Him
ii) He will destroy them
iii) He will not be slack with him who hates Him   (Deuteronomy 7:10)

3. Appropriate response

a) Therefore, you shall keep His commandment
b) The statutes
c) The judgments
d) Which are commanded … to observe them   (Deuteronomy 7:11)
