GOD’S GIFTS TO ISRAEL

1. The Promised Land

2. Large and beautiful cities

3. Houses full of good things

4. Hewn out wells

5. Vineyards   (Deuteronomy 5:10-11)

WORDS OF WARNING

1. Beware of forgetting God

2. He was the One who brought them out of Egypt   (Deuteronomy 6:12)

3. Not to turn to “other gods” (idolatry)   (Deuteronomy 6:14)

4. You shall not tempt the LORD your God   (Deuteronomy 6:16)

THE FEAR OF THE LORD

1. To fear Him

2. To take oaths in His name   (Deuteronomy 6:13)

REASONS

1. The LORD is a jealous God (rightly so)

2. He can be aroused to anger

3. He can destroy the nation   (Deuteronomy 6:15)

WORDS OF ADMONITION

1. To diligently keep the commandments of God   (Deuteronomy 6:17)

2. To do what is right and good in God’s sight   (Deuteronomy 6:18)

RESULTS

1. That it may be well with you   (Deuteronomy 6:18)

2. That you may possess the land   (Deuteronomy 6:18)

3. That the enemies may be cast out   (Deuteronomy 6:19)

POSTERITY

1. Question raised by the children

The keeping of God’s commandments   (Deuteronomy 6:20)

2. Answer to be given to them   (Deuteronomy 6:21-25)

a) Once slaves of Pharaoh
b) Brought out by a mighty hand
c) Signs and wonders shown
d) God’s promise to bring them into the land
e) God’s command to observe His laws
f) To fear the LORD always
g) That He might preserve alive
