RECITATION
Psalm 23:1-3

1. The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

2. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

3. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

NEW MEDITATION

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

1. The valley of the shadow of death

a) This was a source of very real fear
b) Death… The grave (Psalm 6:5)
c) The belly of Sheol (Jonah 2:2)
d) Sheol… (Death Isaiah 38:18)
e) Sheol (Psalm 16:10)

2. I will fear no evil

a) Learned
b) Experienced
c) Obtained

3. You are with me

a) You will show me the path of life (Psalm 16:11)
b) You hold me by my right hand (Psalm 73:24)

4. Rod and Staff bring comfort

a) Symbol of shepherds (The Shepherd’s Crook)
b) For defence of the flock

5. Prayer for God to shepherd His people
Psalm 28:9

a) Save Your people
b) Bless Your inheritance
c) Shepherd them also
d) Bear them up forever
